Instagram Revives Myspace Vibes with New ‘Song on Profile’
Instagram is stepping up its game with a new feature that takes a nostalgic cue from Myspace. Starting today, users can add a song to their profile, reviving a classic social media touch while updating it for today’s audience.
This new addition allows users to feature a song directly on their Instagram profile bio. Unlike Myspace’s autoplay, Instagram’s version lets visitors play or pause the track at their discretion. To add a song, users simply head to the “edit profile” page, select a track from Instagram’s extensive music library, and choose a 30-second snippet to showcase.
In a playful nod to Myspace’s musical roots, Instagram is launching this feature with an exclusive twist. Pop star Sabrina Carpenter is debuting a teaser of her new song “Taste” on her profile. This track, which fans can hear only on Instagram before its full release on Friday, comes from her upcoming album, Short n’ Sweet.
Instagram is making the experience even more engaging with themed surprises. Users can interact with temporary Notes messages that turn light blue by using keywords like “Sabrina” or the coffee cup emoji. Additionally, there’s a Carpenter-branded chat theme featuring playful lipstick kisses, adding a touch of star power to user interactions.
This new feature is set to not only enhance profile customization but also provide a fresh way for fans to connect with their favorite artists.
